Our
Story
Gochulaat was born out of late-night cooking experiments in a tiny kitchen where flavor always came first. 4 friends gathered around steaming bowls of noodles, sizzling pans of fried rice, and plates piled high with snacks that begged for something extra: a spark, a crunch, a spoonful of boldness.
That spark came from a love of Asian flavors, especially the balance found in Korean kitchens. The warmth of gochugaru, the depth of fermented notes, and the way heat and flavor dance together instead of fighting for attention all became inspiration. Instead of chasing fire for bragging rights, we wanted to create something that casual cooks and curious eaters could reach for every day. A condiment that turned leftovers into feasts and simple meals into something worth sharing.
So we started mixing, stirring, and tasting. Garlic was added here, shallots crisped there, and the punch of chili was balanced with the comfort of umami. What began as a homemade batch for friends quickly became a ritual. “Pass the sauce,” they would say, until every plate was transformed.
